How cervico-cranial syndrome causes early spinal decay and what can be done to prevent and treat it…

Cervico-cranial syndrome is a chronic condition in which the head sits too far forward on top of the neck. This forward head posture places extreme stress on the structures of the neck. That means the spine loses its natural curvature, the muscles become over-stretched and weakened. Muscle spasms may be more prevalent when fatigue sets in due to a loss of muscle endurance.

Cervico-cranial syndrome typically develops over time due to spinal misalignments that cause motion restrictions at individual segments of the spine. These are caused by any number of reasons like awkward sleeping position, poor daily posture, whiplash injuries, car accidents, sports collisions, etc. As a result, most people will generally deal with some underlying neck pain caused by one of the above risk factors.

The key to avoiding a chronic condition like cervico-cranial syndrome is to seek treatment immediately following any injury or incidence of pain. Once any necessary diagnostic tests have been performed (x-ray, MRI, CT) and serious injuries like fractures or ligament sprains have been ruled out, consult a doctor of chiropractic for the appropriate spinal care.

Through simple adjustments of those specific segments of the spine which are misaligned, a chiropractor can prevent premature spinal aging. Motion is the key to spinal health. Once segments lose the ability to move properly, they begin to degenerate due to increased biomechanical stress.

Do yourself a favor and get your spine checked and treated.
